The Tormentor is taking shape

I have put it off long enough. My friend Ben donated to me some bits and a shadowsword tank to make this possible. What a great friend he’s been. Ben donated this all 2 years ago and I’ve gone all over the place trying to alter the hull, the tracks, the rear section has. Even an absolute bear to wrestle with. This week after Ben and I decided we should have an Apocalypse battle in December it was time to make it happen. The top portion is nearing completion. I combined two top turrets (one of which was from The Hivemind himself thanks man). It left a weird space on top of the hull where they connected and it took quite a while and many bits I burned though to finish it off. Here’s the top down view of the turret.

I used two top Portions of the rear engine cover for the kit to bridge the gap on top a bit more naturally. The mechanical purpose of these is subject but I think it looks like it belongs there. The ball at the rear portion of the tank will serve as the void shield. Using a cannon bit from the Shadowsword and a street lamp from the cities of death kit I think I pulled it off.

Next up was the rear ramp I made for the Primarch Perturabo to board his glorious Tormentor. The ramp is made from a Valkyrie rear door I had to trim a bit to fit there. I used an extra side armor panel to wrap around the rear of the treads on each side. This made it feel much more sturdy. I cut and replaced the fuel drums to fit the extended hull. I’m ordering some side turrets as I don’t have all the parts for the side sponsons currently. He’s a few shots of The Tormentor right now.

The next update will have some more work on the brace for the cannon barrel as I’ve extended the tank quite a bit. There are plenty of details to fill out and turrets to add. Until next time.

The 4th Company Ultramarines

My son Max (8 years old) and I are creating the Ultramarines 4th Company. We are reading the short story Chains of Command with Uriel Ventris and it’s time to bring them to life. We will be making a list with the entire 4th Company. It will comprise of 6 Battleline squads, 2 Assault Squads, 2 Heavy Squads and the 4 dreadnoughts.  We will of course add a few extra units that we enjoy the look of in there too. For now we are going with 3 ten man tactical squads with a special and heavy weapon each. One will have a drop pod and the others will foot slog for now. The other 3 Battleline squads will be 3 five man Intercessor squads. Every squad will be lead by a named character from the books. We will have a traditional10 man  assault squad with jump packs and one with 3 Inceptors. Max loves heavy bolters so one heavy support squad will have 4 heavy bolters lead by a Sgt. The last Heavy support squad will have 10 Hellblasters because they are awesome. We both enjoy the look and feel of dreadnoughts so we will have three Redemptor Dreads and one Traditional Dreadnought (box-nought). I have already begun making some of the characters and will try to keep them all without helmets for now. Some inspiration from the books.

Thanks for looking and may your paint brush never be dry.

Finally...Space Wolf Commission from Italy

I have finally gotten some Space Wolves completed on Commission from a guy in Italy.  Really great painter and much more talented than I probably will ever be.  This was well worth every dollar spent.  This will be a showcase army that will certainly see play time as well as display time.

I really love the weathering and the basing with snow.  Basing really makes or breaks a miniature in my opinion.

1x Logan Grimnar
1x Knight Paladin
1x Razorback
1x Drop Pod
1x Wolf Lord w/thunderhammer and stormshield on Thunderwolf
1X Standardbearer w/PF on Thunderwolf
1x Iron Priest w/Thunderhammer on Thunderwolf
2x Thunderhammer and Stormshield on Thunderwolves
1x Stormwolf Gunship
1x Contemptor Dreadnaught with Frost axe and stormshield
10x Fenrisian wolves
1x Lonewolf Terminator w/pair of lighting claws
1x Lonewolf Terminator w/Frost axe and stormbolter

I will be adding to this commission in the future.
