Helblade base coat

The Helblade. What can I say about this model? It's just beautiful. The lines on this bad boy are amazing. I'd love to make a fleet of these guys to escort my Storm Eagle(building that soon).

The model itself was very simple to build. I had some help from Ben on glue choices. He recommended Loctite Pro glue and it cures in about 8 seconds. I pinned the engines and used Loctite to secure it all in place. The model is quite sturdy. My final challenge with the build was getting the wings even. Using a heat gun to soften the resin made it easy but it took some time to get it right.

The time used to straighten the wings was well worth it. I haven't finished painting yet, but here is the look so far. I'm trying a new technique than what I used on the tanks. My friend Jeremy helped with that. Just another reason I love this hobby.

Top view where I'll be painting the windshield this week. Everything is almost built now and I, playing my first game this Saturday. The tournament is in two weeks but I'll be ready.

Just check out the details. That's all for now.

The Lord of Iron has ARRIVED!

Perturabo is the Primarch of my Legion the Iron Warriors. This is the model I have thought of since I converted to 40k in 2005. The Horus Heresy books had just started to be released and I wanted in. I opened up the third edition Chaos Space Marines codex turned to the rear cover and fell in love. The entire GW staff Iron Warrior army was set up in a display that just bled war. So I bought the Horus Heresy Visions and saw one picture of the man himself Perturabo. Back then the model was just an imagination. One day forge world came out with a primarch named Angron and I was just waiting for the IVth to get their day. Today is that day!!

Here you see the box of glory, my former Perturabo, test mini and the Vindicator I'm working on.

The first three pieces of the display base. They will form a destroyed Knight Titan by Perturabo.

The dead Knight Pilot

Here's the size comparison with my test miniature.

Here's Perturabo in blowout. The detail is just incredible. I'm a huge fan of the dual hand cannons. I'd love to see his stat line show this improvement on his armour.

He's so big. Notice it's just thigh to collar.

His face is going to be my biggest challenge to paint but I'm going for it.

A final size comparison next to my wip Vidicator tank.

The official card of how to build Perturabo. (Which I lost and received a PDF version from Forgeworld)

I will approach a test model for my 30k Iron Warriors first, then Perturabo. That's all for now

Finally got this baneblade together and put the air scrubbers on.

Here's my Primarch

I've been quite busy at work the last two weeks. This has destroyed my plans for painting over the last couple of weeks. I have a trip this weekend and next weekend with the family. Once the trips are done its time to hunker down and get my tournament army ready to go. I should have a few hours in the middle of this week to make some progress on the motor pool. In the mean time this guy is not finished recently but wanted to show some work off.  This is a model from the Kabuki Miniatures range. I use him as Perturabo Primarch of the IVth Legions Astartes, The Iron Warriors. To start off here is Work in Progress (WIP) shot.

I shaved off some of the extra decorum on the shoulder pads for two reasons. The first is Perturabo doesn't fancy, well the fancy. The second being I really didn't like the way that section looked.

A closer look at the detail work which was excellent.

If you see the original it comes with a different base (I didn't like that either). I used one from a very old metal Mortarion model. If you noticed I shaved the inner thighs decorum as well.

Finally some paint was applied. This was my first attempt at photographing my work and painting with layers on the metal. I would normally just ink over a metal. This looks superior to that.

Once the assembly and metal work was completed I went to work on the daemon hammer Forgebreaker. What a fun part of the model to paint. It can be missed if you don't look at it really, as it faces the ground.

Side shot of Perturabo. I'm very happy with my paint job on him. The blend is great with the cables and across the armour facings.

Here's a size comparison with a standard Space Marine. I'm not satisfied with his face and will continue to grow in that area. Until then enjoy the finished shots.

Thanks for looking and hope to see you next time folks.
