Kayden's been busy with his warhammer too....

So Kayden decided he wanted to make some terrain for his Space Marines The Golden Fists.

This is all completely his work and was started when I was in Norway.

Its going to be a collapsed building and have window cut out.

Kayden wants to put some rubble around it too and make it more realistic he says.

Here he is painting some Tzeentch Chaos Knights and making them Khorne.

Back from the void...well sort of.

Well folks it has been a long while since my last post I took off for California in August and Norway in September, with a neck deep work schedule since my return.  All that to say I have posted nothing but have been busier than a Chinese sweat shop painting away on my Tyranids.

I even got a game in two weekends ago with my Necrons.  I might get around to a brief battle report since I did take some pictures this time around.

First up is the Exocrene/Maleceptor.  I finished it finally and the head is magnetized so can easily switch between the two models which is really the only difference between the two.  I should have taken some photos of the magnetizing process but I wasn't thinking it through all the way.

Base coats of paints.  I tried out a new technique on this models skin of washing the base coat of dawn grey with druichi purple.  I think I will do that for all my tyranid monstrous creatures from here on out.

Completed Maleceptor

Exocrene is completed.  I like the alien eyes on the front of the bio weapon.  I tried to make them look alive and not like painted gems.
Eyes are one of the hardest things to paint.

Work in progress shot of my hobby table.

Completed Tyrannocyte.  I love this model.  It is a pain to try and cover up the mold lines but it in the end it is amazing when done.

I wanted the model to have as small a profile as possible for storage, so I used the heat gun to soften the tentacle arms and bring them in closer to the model.  Continuing on the ruined city theme there is rubble all on the base.  I really like how the weathering has turned out on the metal pieces.

The fanged maw on top of the Tyrannocyte.

This is an old flying hive tryant I converted years ago and never painted.  It is a platic carnifex with platic balrog wings from the LoTR miniature line.

I am somewhat satisfied with the saliva appearance.  I really want to take some time and try working with the epoxy/ water effects again.

I just noticed from this picture I need to go back and tidy up the skin lines near the yellow webbing of the wings.  Its driving me crazy now that I see it.  That's the only problem with painting at 0200 in the morning you start to miss little things.

Group shot of the completed models from this week.  1 tyrannocyte, 9 spore mines, 1 hive tyrant and 1 tyrant guard.

This is a converted Hive Tyrant using the body of a Dark Elves Black Dragon (WHFB) and the torso of an old metal Hive Tyrant armed with a set of twinlinked devourers, bone sword and lash whip.

I have wanted to paint him for awhile but only now got around to it.

There are no rules for it but I want the Hive Tyrant to have the deep strike rule like the Trygon and have a deep striking tyrant guard as well.  I will add that to my conversion ideas and create 3 tyrant guard using ravenor lower bodies and tyrant guard upper bodies to match the burrowing theme for the unit.

Its hard to see from the angle but the Tyrant Guard has been wounded and bleeding underneath his torso.  The acid blood is pooling on the base.

9 spore mines.  I like the flesh tone how it gels with the rest of the army color pallet.

8 tentaclids for the 2 hive crones I am building.

One night I got too tired to continue painting so I primed a few models.

The dual wielding thunder hammer Terminator is going to be one of the leading Inquisitors for my Emperor's Shadows.

Another flying hive tyrant converted from a plastic carnifex but using the new tyrant wings.

A space Marine Captian is using the Jump Pack to take the power axe to the Tyrant that is trying to jink out of the way.
