Here's my Primarch

I've been quite busy at work the last two weeks. This has destroyed my plans for painting over the last couple of weeks. I have a trip this weekend and next weekend with the family. Once the trips are done its time to hunker down and get my tournament army ready to go. I should have a few hours in the middle of this week to make some progress on the motor pool. In the mean time this guy is not finished recently but wanted to show some work off.  This is a model from the Kabuki Miniatures range. I use him as Perturabo Primarch of the IVth Legions Astartes, The Iron Warriors. To start off here is Work in Progress (WIP) shot.

I shaved off some of the extra decorum on the shoulder pads for two reasons. The first is Perturabo doesn't fancy, well the fancy. The second being I really didn't like the way that section looked.

A closer look at the detail work which was excellent.

If you see the original it comes with a different base (I didn't like that either). I used one from a very old metal Mortarion model. If you noticed I shaved the inner thighs decorum as well.

Finally some paint was applied. This was my first attempt at photographing my work and painting with layers on the metal. I would normally just ink over a metal. This looks superior to that.

Once the assembly and metal work was completed I went to work on the daemon hammer Forgebreaker. What a fun part of the model to paint. It can be missed if you don't look at it really, as it faces the ground.

Side shot of Perturabo. I'm very happy with my paint job on him. The blend is great with the cables and across the armour facings.

Here's a size comparison with a standard Space Marine. I'm not satisfied with his face and will continue to grow in that area. Until then enjoy the finished shots.

Thanks for looking and hope to see you next time folks.

  1. Shane,

Loving the paint job on the side armor where the rib cage is. I like the highlights and how it defines the rib muscles. The hammer is looking good too. I never noticed the laughing face under the hammers head.

Removing the detail from the inner thighs was a smart move and fluff wise was a good call as well. You are right Perturabo did not like fancy embellishments only what was practical for smashing face.

Keep up the good work and may your paint brush never be dry.
