I have a new appreciation for those people who do battle reports because let me tell you those are much harder than it seems...if you do it right.
I am still working on my first one and I did not take near enough pictures. I will be working on another battle report for the Necrons vs Space Wolves 3k points that I played on 27 Dec 14. That one I have plenty of pictures but I did not take enough notes because it was a long game. Lesson is you need to take pictures and notes during each players turn and not go off cuff after two weeks.
Front side of Sgt Darnath. He is holding off a brood of hormagaunts and is the last remaining member of his devastator squad. The spent shell casings are just hollowed brass rod that I got from Hobby Lobby that were cut to size with a dremel.
I think the blood splatter from the gaunts is authentic and looks like a proper amount and splattered at the right angles. The exploding gaunt was the hardest conversion on this model and didn't dry for a long time.
If you look close at this angle there is a shell casing being ejected from the heavy bolter. Simple and realistic conversion.
This angle you can see the tank trap that the rhino was flipped over by a Carnifex. The Carnifex will be in a separate diorama. These scenes that I am working on will all fit together in a larger battle scene for my Warhammer/hobby building that I will have built in a few years once I retire from the Marine Corps.
They are coming for you.
An overhead shot of the scene. There is another gaunt buried in there under the pool of acid blood on the ground.
This is my first flyrant using the new plastic kit. I have another one that was a plastic carnifex I converted with wings from the Lord of the Rings Balrog kit. It is on the painting block soon.
Landspeeder is taking off and getting reading to unload in the fyrants face.
This was a difficult conversion in that it took so long for the poses to dry so there was a lot of holding and tired fingers. It was difficult to line up the landspeeders angle so he was lined up with the flyrants face.
I used carbon fiber rod from Hobby Town USA to suspend the landspeeder in the air. It is incredibly sturdy and does not bend like brass rod or a thick coat hanger. Just wear a mask and cut it outside because the carbon fiber pieces are not good to be inhaled.
Well cheers!! Thanks for looking. More posts to follow this week.
